“Sometimes the unexpected is the most rewarding.” He told him and took another sip. He was really enjoying it. “I thought of the same when I joined the university”
Deucalion merely shrugged, gazing out the window with a thoughtful expression. “Things have been happening quickly, in recent months. I’m not sure if I should continue to take it in stride, or to sit back and take some time to think.”
“Find me a saint first and I’ll tell you if you even had to try to be one.” She said, “And don’t say Scott. He doesn’t count” She quickly stated. He wasn’t a saint either, but he could sometimes act like…Jesus.
“I’ve met several saints,” the alpha pointed out, shrugging. “But Scott is something else. He’d rather martyr himself at any given opportunity. Less of a saint, more of a Jesus-archetype.”
“Yes. After all, I hear a lot of what happens in this town.” He shrugged and relaxed on the chair. “Are you enjoying your job?”
“I am, surprisingly,” he hummed, smiling as he sipped his tea. “I didn’t think of myself as a teacher, but the university has been a good experience. I’m glad I chose to return.”
“Oh but you mean back back then, not when you came back with new and updated eyes.”
“I was still a bad person then.” He spoke again, tone slightly softer this time as one finger tracked over the barely-there scars still ingering around his eyes. “I’m still far from a saint.”
